Assignment: Thursday’s Instruction

Students, you must complete the following today!

1. Progressivism and the Republican Roosevelt[1] (1). Click on chapter 28 powerpoint. Once you open it, watch the powerpoint and finish answering the critical thinking questions. I believe the last question we were on was five. Turn in the critical thinking question response to me.

2. Take the practice test for chapter 27 & 28. Email the result to me. Make sure you put your name and class period so I can give proper credit. Whatever you get on the quiz will be your actual grade so I suggest you look over the notes first before taking the test. 3. If you have not done so, write a response to the test taking articles today. It is not due until friday but it is better to get ahead. See the posting on our site.

4. Click on the following link (http://www.hum.au.dk/engelsk/asca/onWWW/essays.html)for the list of essay topics. Remember you have an essay due every friday for the first four weeks of school. If you want to get ahead you may due so. From the list, pick four topics that you want to write an essay on. Essay must be typed, double- spaced, at least 2 pages, and Times New Roman.

Don’t waste your time talking. Use your time wisely so you can stay current with all your assignments. No late work will be accepted!

Assignment: Test taking skills

Students,one of  the most important skills you will need during your academic career is a good  test taking skill. Go to the following links and read about the tips. Also watch the videos as well. After you complete these two tasks, make a comment below and reflect on what you have learned and found interesting.  Make sure you put your name and class period in your comment otherwise I will not give you credit. You must put in your response by 12:00 friday night. Make sure you pay close attention to the strategies because I expect you to use it on the first unit test this friday. So do not just gloss over the articles. Make sure you pay attention to what it is telling you to do. These tips will help you take the multiple choice test in our class, the ACT, SAT, AIMS etc.

ACT and SAT Test Taking Strategy

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Students, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you guys a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I am so proud of your efforts in class this first semester! I helped you as much as I can. You guys make me job fun, exciting, and inspiring! Rest up and enjoy your holiday with your friends and family. I know I will!

For those of you who would like to get ahead. You can start by doing the interactive notebook for chapters 30, 31, & 32. Make sure you look at your handouts especially the information about the output( there’s over 31 ideas on what you can put on the left side of your paper to show your understanding of the material). Remember, you should have at least 3 output such as pictures, questions, summaries, graphs, charts etc. Pick up your notebook from my class by Wednesday.

Also, next semester we will be writing one essay per week for the first six weeks. For the list click: http://www.hum.au.dk/engelsk/asca/onWWW/essays.html. You get to pick and choose which topic you want to write about. Just make sure it’s from the list.All essay are due by 12:00 midnight on Friday. Make sure you use Times Roman, 12″ font, double-spaced and proper MLA format. For MLA format go to: http://easybib.com/. You have to practice citing properly if you are to be successful in college.

Assignment: Final Exam

Students, for the final exam pick one of the following topics/concepts and create a ten slide powerpoint presentation or video. Your presentation must include graphics and text. It must fully explained the importance of the concept. If you would like to partner up with another student you can, but they must be in the same class. Make sure you get this done and turned in by this Friday!  It’s first come first serve so let me know what topics you would like to cover. On the day of final exam you will present in front of class.

Assignment: December 8th, Thursday

Students if you were absent here is the assignment.

Directions: First, do not forget that we are in the library so please minimum talking or you will not get done with your assignments. Go to our class website and take practice tests for chapters 24, 25, 26. For chapters 25 & 26 I will not cover it in class as a lecture so please make sure you look over notes. However we will watch Americathe Story of Us about the main concepts for these two chapters. Make sure you email it today. After you are done, at the same site, click on the link on the left side of your page that says flashcards. These are the vocabulary for each chapter. Make sure you become familiar with it and study it for pop quizzes. Then you are to go to: http://www.historyteacher.net/USProjects/USQuizzes/Antebellum2c.htm to take a short quiz about the Antebellum South. Then you go on the net to search for information about the Antebellum (In United States history and historiography, “antebellum” is commonly used, in lieu of “pre-Civil War,” in reference to the period of increasing sectionalism that led up to the American Civil War) South. Then you are going to write a learning log: what did you LEARNED what did you find INTERESTING and what five QUESTIONS you have. Remember use Cornell Format! Turn everything in! You can get all these things done if you manage your time wisely.

9. America the story of us: Civil War notes. Students had to take notes over film and then make 15 questions. 15 pts for notes, 15 for questions and ten for summary.(40pts)
